IRES organized on July 17th, 2009, as part of its study program "the social bond in Morocco", a study day on "New social movements and protests"

At this meeting, the findings of the aforementioned study were discussed. Among the issues being handled are :

The new social movements: Are they a sign of a re-composition of local politics? Is this a new way of doing politics?

The new social movements: Are they the place from where new local elite emerge? And how does this elite differ from traditional notables?

The new social movements: Are they, through their sectoral claims, the beginnings of a normalization of the dispute and their spatial "democratization" as they relate to both large and small urban centers and even touch the Moroccan countryside?
