Working visit to IRES by a high-level Israeli delegation

A high-level Israeli delegation led by his Excellency Mr. Joseph ODED, Deputy Director General and Head of the "Middle East and Peace Process" Division at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accompanied by His Excellency Mr. David GOVRIN, Ambassador of Israel to Morocco, undertook a working visit to the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES) on August 28, 2023.

Following an introduction to the  vocation and missions of IRES, the discussions centered around recent developments in the security situation within the MENA region and the potential prospects that emerge amidst the ongoing geopolitical shifts.

The avenues for enhancing cooperation between Morocco and Israel on both bilateral and multilateral fronts were also explored. The Israeli delegation highlighted that Morocco's deep-rooted connections with Africa and its involvement in the continent's dynamics, coupled with its numerous strengths, position the Kingdom favorably to play a significant role in nurturing triangular cooperation between Israel, Morocco, and Africa.

At the conclusion of this working visit, the prospect of establishing connections between IRES and Israeli Think Tanks was emphasized, given their potential to contribute to the creation of an innovative partnership model between the two nations and to engage in collective discussions on matters of shared interest. Notably, an agreement was reached to initiate a strategic and foresight dialogue between IRES and Israeli Think Tanks in 2024.
