Technologies of Smart Grid : challenges and opportunities for Morocco
As part of its study program entitled "Climate Change: Global impacts and adaptation options in Morocco”, the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES) held June 12, 2012 at 9:00 am, a workshop around the issue: "Technologies of Smart Grid : challenges and opportunities for Morocco", which was moderated by Mr. Abdellatif MIRAOUI, President of the University Cadi Ayyad-Marrakech-.
During this conference, that was attended by public sector managers, academics and representatives of the private sector, the focus was on the opportunities offered by this new technology that has a great potential in Morocco, whereas, it is not considered for the moment as the priority of the national energy strategy. Other aspects were discussed, linked to economic and environmental benefits that could result of the introduction of smart grids.
The discussion was focused on the ability of the national grid to integrate this new technology, its stamina to face security challenges, the possibility of preserving the users’ confidentiality and the challenges that are linked to the generalization of smart grids nationally.
